Die Jugendarbeitslosigkeit steigt weltweit, besonders dramatisch ist die Lage in EU-Ländern wie Spanien: Dort findet fast jeder zweite junge Mensch keinen Job. Die Internationale Arbeitsorganisation warnt vor einer "verlorenen Generation".

Unsichere Zukunft, abhängig vom Doktorvater, schlecht bezahlt: Doktoranden in Deutschland forschen unter schlechten Bedingungen, viele verlassen deshalb das Land oder die Wissenschaft. Jetzt wehren sich die Nachwuchsforscher.

Den Studienplatz nicht bekommen oder die Prüfung verhauen? Immer häufiger ziehen junge Leute gegen Unis vor Gericht. Für Anwälte ist die akademische Klagewelle eine Goldgrube. Doch meist können sich das nur Kinder wohlhabender Eltern leisten -  manchmal steigen die Kosten auf 20.000 Euro.

In September 2005, the Song "European Soul" composed by the Austrian Peter Jedlicka won a prize in an art competition organized by the NOE-Kulturforum in Lower Austria, entitled:

"In search of the European Soul"

This song has a good chance to become Europes new Hymn, because it is much easier to sing than Beethoven´s "Ode to joy".

And it has a unique concept to include all languages of the EU Member States: The first verse is always sung in english language, the second verse and the final short verse are sung in the language of the country where it is performed.

On this website we´ll keep you up with news about this composition, give you the chance to download the lyrics and the melody (in MIDI file format), and tell you in which countries, by which artists or choirs the song is performed or recorded.

And you can join in ! If you want to perform this song live - most likely within a Europe-related event - or put it on a record please tell us about it. And if you do not find a language version of your country on this website, please mail if you have a proposal for a translation in your mother tongue.

Peter Jedlicka is increasingly collaborating with other artists in the field of music and digital art.

This new community calls itself WIENERBERG.

Just as the song was performed with singer Birgit Obermoser last year, other combinations of musicians will perform the song in the near future.

This website has also been submitted to the Diesel New Art Contest 2006.

The aim is not to win another prize for the composition, but for the website as a project to unite European musicians, singers and bands by means of the song "European Soul" sung in all European languages.
